Working Practices:

PWM Enviromental Services will devise a site specific Safe Working Procedure method statement  detailing all aspects of the  operation to be undertaken prior to commencement on site. All operatives strictly adhere to these  details at all times. A fully trained team of asbestos removers led by a dedicated foreman with the most up to date HSE approved equipment will carry out the removal work. Final inspections and air monitoring work are undertaken by an independent UKAS accredited laboratory.

All asbestos workers are fully conversant with the latest Legislative Standards and are given HSE approved yearly refresher courses as well as training on specific safety issues such as ladders, towers, access equipment and tool operation.

Material Handling:

PWM Enviromental Services will ensure that whilst carrying out hazardous waste removal the release of fibres is kept to an absolute minimum, by keeping to a strict working practice this will  enable the area of operation to be returned to normal use at the completion of the contract or enable building/ refurbishment  work to continue without risk to health from asbestos fibres.

The construction and design of the working area will be such as to prevent any exposure to asbestos by personnel outside of the enclosure. If our operatives have to break asbestos boarding to enable removal all fibres will be suppressed by spraying the surfaces with specialist fibre suppressants.

Asbestos lagging is injected under slight pressure with a fibre suppressant using machinery specially designed for this procedure and is dampened with a fine water spray before any removal work begins, continually dampened while removal takes place.

Hazardous waste removal and disposal:

All asbestos removal is undertaken by pairs of operatives, one operator actually removing, one operator following with the vacuum. On removal, the asbestos is immediately bagged and then double-bagged in clearly identifiable bags and placed in a lockable asbestos skip. The skip is taken direct to a Hazardous Waste Regulation Authority approved disposal site by an approved waste carrier.
We can also deal with items that may contain asbestos such as gaskets or vehicle brake and clutch linings, offering a service whereby we supply steel open topped drums for the storage of these items prior to collection. This service is best suited to garages, transport companies and vehicle dealerships
